Chef Matt Taerk

My name is Matt Taerk. I am a self-taught Chef, Writer, and Musician from Toronto, Canada. For as long as I can remember, food has been my biggest passion. To me, food isn’t about throwing a bunch of ingredients together and putting it on the table. At its core, it’s filled with love and passion. I come from a large family, and the kitchen has always been a place that we spend a lot of quality time together.

I am fortunate to have traveled to many places that have inspired me to explore my culinary horizons. On each trip, I have discovered new flavors and techniques along the way that worked their way into my recipes. My inspiration in the kitchen comes from a variety of chefs. The chefs that inspire me to include Michelin Star Chefs Thomas Keller, Gordon Ramsay, and Massimo Bottura, and trailblazers in the modern culinary scene, David Chang and Roy Choi, as well as Texas pitmaster, Aaron Franklin.

I hope to share with you that the kitchen is not a scary place, but rather a place of experimentation, fun, and most importantly, love. I want to show people, through my recipes, how easy it can be to cook restaurant-quality food at home.
